The city of Jelenia Góra is in mourning after a tragedy that has shocked the local community and will remain in its memory for a long time.

On Monday, December 15, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the body of an 11-year-old student was found a few hundred meters from the school, immediately triggering a wave of disbelief and pain among residents.

The dramatic discovery took place in the area of ​​Wyspiańskiego and Słowackiego streets, just about 200 meters from the school the girl attended.

News of the child’s death spread quickly throughout the city, intensifying the sense of fear and sadness among parents and students.

Initial investigations indicate that the 11-year-old’s death may have been caused by the actions of third parties, which is why the case was treated as exceptionally serious from the outset.

The police immediately secured the scene of the incident and began intensive procedural activities, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

A 12-year-old student from the same school was arrested in connection with this case, further shocking the local community.

The services do not disclose where the detained girl is currently located or what further decisions will be taken regarding her.

According to unofficial information, the murder weapon was a Finka knife, and numerous traces of injuries were found on the victim’s body.

The scheduled autopsy will provide detailed information on the cause and nature of the injuries.

As it was established, both girls attended Primary School No. 10, but they were not friends and knew each other only by sight.

The proximity of the tragedy site to the school intensified the sense of danger among students, teachers and parents.

The school authorities, in cooperation with the city, immediately provided psychological support to students and teaching staff.

Specialists were assigned to the school to help children and adults cope with the trauma of dramatic events.

The management stressed that the most important thing now is to ensure a sense of security and emotional stability for the entire school community.

In response to the tragedy, the city authorities published an official statement declaring mourning.

The city mayor decided that the day of the funeral of the 11-year-old student would be declared a day of mourning throughout Jelenia Góra.

At the same time, organizers of cultural, sports and entertainment events were appealed to maintain seriousness and respect the memory of the deceased child.

The city has fallen into silence and reflection, and residents are united in grief with the girl’s family, trying to understand the scale of this tragedy.
