A few years ago, a touching story happened in one of the primary schools in the Turkish city of Izmir.

A homeless ginger kitten wandered into the school building. The children began to take care of him: they fed him, played with him, and welcomed his every visit with joy. Gradually, the kitten began to look into the school more and more often, and he was especially fond of the third grade. The school staff dewormed him, and the students gave him a name – Tombo.

The presence of the cat noticeably affected the atmosphere in the classroom. The children became calmer and more attentive, so as not to scare their new friend. Tombo himself behaved exceptionally well: he sat quietly during lessons, carefully “listened” to the teachers, and sometimes looked into books with the children.

However, not all adults accepted this with enthusiasm. Some parents expressed their dissatisfaction, and Tombo was placed in the care of a loving foster family. However, the separation was difficult for both the children and the cat himself: in his new home, he refused to eat for three days and looked sad. At school, the students also missed their fluffy friend.

Seeing how the children were going through this, the school management made an extraordinary decision: Tombo was officially registered as a school employee. A personal file was created for him, all the required veterinary formalities were completed, and a list of duties was even drawn up.

When Tombo returned to class, he was greeted with applause. The parents presented the cat with a new collar and pendant. As a gesture of appreciation, Tombo was given the honorary title of “Red Headmaster”. Now, if the cat decides to take a nap on someone’s notebook, the student has the right not to write notes, and the teacher makes an appropriate note in the journal.

And so, thanks to the care of the students and teachers, Tombo found his home and became part of a large, close-knit family.
