There are some stories you can’t read without tears… This story has touched the world. Police announced that a woman died in a head-on collision on an American highway, just moments after she updated her status and posted selfies on Facebook. Courtney Sanford, 32, posted the following message on her Facebook page Thursday morning at 8:33 a.m.: “A happy song makes me so HAPPY.”

Police were alerted to an accident at 8:34 a.m. According to officials, Ms. Sanford was driving alone when her car crossed the median, collided with a recycling truck, and caught fire.

She was driving to work on Interstate 85 in North Carolina, and police say there is no evidence that speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. The Facebook post only became public last weekend when acquaintances of Ms. Sanford reported to police that several of her online posts had been published around the same time as the crash itself.

According to High Point police spokesman Lieutenant Chris Weisner, the crash was a real public warning “about what happens when you text while driving,” WGHP television reported.

Lieutenant Weisner explained that Ms. Sanford had taken selfies on the highway, according to her social media accounts, in addition to the message she had sent shortly before the collision.
