Dane’s body was recovered around 11:13 a.m. by volunteer diver Juan Heredia of the Angels Recovery Dive Team, guided by a local river expert. Sheriff’s Department divers had previously searched the area. “Our thoughts are with the family, who are facing unbearable grief,” said Sheriff Adam Shanks.

“Out of respect for the family’s privacy during this profoundly difficult time, we ask the public and the media to respect their need for space and time to grieve,” the statement continued.
Within 24 hours of the disappearance being reported, authorities, volunteers, and several search and rescue groups conducted searches across 382 acres and 283 miles.

Dogs, drones, divers and boats were also used in the search. Dane Paulsen was last seen alive on March 1, at about 4:25 p.m. local time, in the yard of the family home north of Siletz, Oregon.
Around the time he disappeared, a car driven by an adult male was seen near the family home, but after locating the driver, authorities said he was not a “person of interest”.

In addition, the sheriff’s office stated that Dane’s case did not meet the requirements for an Amber Alert, but that updates would be provided via social media and FlashAlert.
We are truly sorry for the loss of Dane Paulsen
