A hiker made a gruesome discovery in the south of the Charente department, more precisely in the forests of the Montboyer commune, as revealed by Charente Libre on Monday, July 31, 2023.

On the afternoon of Sunday, July 23, 2023, a walker discovered a decapitated body in a car that turned out to be a Peugeot registered in Cher. According to our colleagues, the body had been at the scene for several days. According to the latter, the walker decided to go for a walk in the woods near a place called Chez Rabier, near the D674, on Sunday morning. Intrigued by the parked vehicle with one door open, the walker returned to the scene late in the afternoon and approached the car. He smelled a nauseating stench and was confronted by a macabre scene. After receiving the report, police quickly responded to the scene.

A man found decapitated by a pedestrian is said to have committed suicide.
At the scene of the gruesome discovery, officers noticed a belt tied to a tree, tightened around the victim’s neck. After the man’s body was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Poitiers, an autopsy was necessary to determine the exact cause of death. Contacted by our colleagues, the mayor of Montboyer, Muriel Enique, confirmed that she had been informed of the events “by the police but refused to say anything more.” However, according to the latest information reported on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, by Charente Libre, “the Angoulême prosecutor’s office received the autopsy results on Tuesday, which confirm that the man found did indeed commit suicide.”
