Britney Spears shared devastating news with her fans on Saturday. The singer revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage.

In an Instagram post, the 40-year-old wrote that she and her partner are going through a very difficult time.

“We are devastated to have lost our baby so early in our pregnancy,” Britney wrote, adding that she regretted the news had to be shared so early.

“Perhaps we should have waited a little longer to announce this, but when you receive such joyful news, it’s hard to keep it to yourself. We wanted to share our happiness with you right away. Our love for each other gives us strength, and we still hope to expand our family. Thank you for your kindness and support – we ask for privacy during this painful time.”
