With a face full of anger, a stranger woman burst into the yard holding a crying girl about six years old, who was pressing her hand to her stomach — a scratch was clearly visible there.
I froze in place. Rocky, my dog, was sitting calmly in the yard, happily wagging his tail. We had known him for almost five years — he was smart, calm, and had never hurt anyone. So such accusations sounded simply unbelievable.
The woman shouted as if a wild beast lived in our house. She had already called the police and demanded the immediate euthanasia of the “mad dog.”
I was trembling but tried to stay calm and replied:
— My dog is not capable of that. He is friendly and loves children. Perhaps your daughter provoked him. If you want, we can watch the footage from the yard camera together — everything is recorded there.
The police agreed, and we went inside the house. The camera was installed right above the door, covering the entire yard and the scene of the incident.
As we began watching the footage, we were horrified by what we saw…

When we started watching the footage, it became clear that the situation was not at all as the woman described. The little girl, playing in the yard, suddenly ran onto the street — right under the wheels of a passing car.
At that moment, Rocky dashed after her, grabbed her by the clothes, and literally pulled her out from under the car.

The woman, seeing the dog grabbing the child by the clothes, immediately thought the dog was attacking. The girl screamed in fright and struggled — she didn’t understand that she was being saved.
When the child’s mother saw this on the footage, she was breathless. She realized that it was only thanks to our Rocky that her daughter was alive.

Relieved and grateful, she approached us, sincerely thanked our dog, and apologized for the rushed accusations. Her view of Rocky changed completely — he was no longer a “savage,” but a true hero.
