It was an ordinary day at the city hospital. In the reception area, the air conditioner hummed softly, nurses were registering new patients, doctors were quietly talking in the corridors, and IV drips slowly ran in the rooms.
The head nurse was checking the appointment log when suddenly the sound of quick claws on the tile floor came from the end of the corridor.

Around the corner, as if out of nowhere, appeared a dog – a large, reddish-brown dog. It ran confidently, as if it knew exactly where it was going. In its mouth, it held a black bag, tightly tied at the top.
The nurse immediately lifted her head and exclaimed:
— What is a dog doing here?! This is unsanitary! Get it out!
Two doctors, hearing her shout – a surgeon and the duty nurse – rushed after it. But the dog was faster: it zipped past them, ignoring patients and astonished glances, and continued running down the long hospital corridor.
Patients peeked out from their rooms, some laughed, others whispered in confusion, but the dog didn’t notice anyone.
Suddenly, it stopped abruptly at a door with red letters. The black bag fell from its mouth onto the floor. The dog began whining plaintively, then switched to loud, piercing barking. It rose onto its hind legs and scratched at the door with its front paws, as if begging to be let in.

The doctors finally caught up with the dog, and that’s when they understood why it was behaving so strangely and running through the hospital
The nurse, out of breath, sat down and carefully picked up the bag. When she untied the knot, everyone froze: inside lay a tiny, barely breathing puppy, with a paw twisted at an unnatural angle. There were red marks on its fur.
— He… he brought him here for help, — whispered the surgeon.
Later, it was revealed that the puppy had been hit by a car near the hospital. The dog was apparently the mother. Somehow, it had realized that the baby could be saved here.
The doctors had to improvise – of course, there was no animal operating room in the hospital. But the kind-hearted surgeon and two other staff members found the necessary tools and treated the wound. The puppy was fitted with a splint and given an injection.

The entire staff was amazed at the dog’s intelligence and determination. While the doctors worked, it sat by the door, quietly whining, never taking its eyes off its little friend.
When the operation was finished and the puppy was taken out, the dog carefully licked its face, then rested its head beside it, as if comforting it.
