When the dog abruptly blocked the bride’s way and began barking incessantly during the wedding, the guests were shocked to learn why.
From the beginning, they had been inseparable. When Sofia was only eighteen, she discovered Gerda, a small German Shepherd puppy, by the side of the road in the rain. It has been seven years since then. Gerda developed into an intelligent, compassionate, and fiercely devoted dog that was with Sofia through everything of life—in happiness, sadness, tests, relocations, and even the day she met her future husband.
The wedding day then arrived. With dozens of visitors behind her, Sofia wore a white lace dress with a lengthy train and a delicate tiara on her head.
Gerda at her side. Her loyal friend. With a little white bow and the intention of accompanying the bride down the aisle, the dog even “participated” in the ceremony.

However, something occurred that rocked everyone at that same time.
Gerda snarled just as the music began and Sofia took her first stride. She blocked her path by standing in front of her.
She scraped with her paws, barked, and used her teeth to pull at the dress’s hem. Despite the dirt stains on the white dress, Gerda persisted.
Sofia leaned down to comfort her pal, bewildered. She muttered, stroking her head:
— Relax, girl, everything will be alright.
But then she saw something awful.
Gerda’s front paw was crooked, and the dog was repressing pain with each step. Startle. Fear.
In the morning, this was absent. Gerda was in excellent health. Just before they left, they had taken a walk together. How did this occur?
Sofia suddenly faced the visitors:

— Did anyone witness Gerda’s fate?
Quiet. Then a soft voice behind them said:
— I saw. Your fiancé kicked her after she ran up to him. Hard.
Sofia stopped. The fiancé turned pale and attempted to speak but was unable to do so.
Everything made sense to her then. She remembered small details, like Gerda avoiding him and never approaching him. How the dog lying on the couch between them infuriated him. She had never listened, though.
It was all plain now.
Sofia looked up. She spoke loudly, confidently, and without trembling, saying:
– The wedding will not take place.

utter quiet. The guests were shocked by what they heard. And even though the white garment was ripped and filthy, she was already cradling Gerda in her arms.
—I am bringing her to the veterinarian.
She left without turning around. Everyone initially stood motionless. Then they began to cheer. appreciating her strength. Her decision. Her affection.
