I was taking a leisurely walk in the woods – as I often do when I need fresh air and want to clear my head.

Walking through the trees, listening to the rustling leaves, and breathing in the earthy scent of the forest floor always has a calming effect on me. But this walk was to be different from all the others.

On this quiet morning, everything seemed perfectly normal at first – until a strange detail at the side of the path suddenly caught my attention. Right next to the trail, strange little yellow balls lay on the ground.

Their bright yellow contrasted sharply with the brown leaves. At first, I thought they were unusual mushrooms… or perhaps lost toys.

My curiosity led me to approach.

But the closer I got, the more clearly I realized: These “mushrooms” were moving. And they were chirping.

At that moment, I realized: In front of me lay a group of newly hatched chicks.

Tiny, fragile, huddled together – some were still half-enclosed in their eggshells. They were shivering, presumably from the cold, and making faint, wailing noises.

I was paralyzed with shock.

It was obvious they had been abandoned here – in the middle of nature, completely defenseless.

Without hesitation, I called an animal shelter. Fortunately, help arrived quickly. Together, we carefully collected the chicks, taking care not to harm them.

Many of them were still alive. They were taken to a warm and safe place.

I later learned that most of the chicks had recovered well and would soon be rehomed to people willing to lovingly care for them.

I have no idea who abandoned them there.

But this experience moved me deeply. It showed me how much a thoughtful look and a simple action can achieve.

Sometimes a seemingly ordinary walk becomes a true lesson in humanity.
