In a California home, a woodpecker hid about 700 pounds of acorns in the walls.
The discovery was reported by the US television station NBC, citing a company specializing in pest control.
A resident reported hearing strange sounds and periodically seeing small insects emerging from the walls.
A pest control officer intervened and opened one of the walls, discovering a large quantity of acorns hidden inside. It turned out that the house was used by a woodpecker of the Melanerpes family, also known as the acorn woodpecker, which had drilled holes in the roof and walls to store its supplies.

In total, more than 700 pounds of acorns, or about 320 kilograms, were removed from the woodpecker’s roost.
