For several weeks, a little girl living across from my house kept signaling me, day and night.
There was something unsettling in her gaze, as if she was trying to send me a message. I couldn’t shake the feeling that she was waiting for something from me.
When I finally decided to find out who she was, the chilling truth behind that door deeply shook me

Every evening, she would appear: a little girl, no older than five, standing still at the window, waving at me.
The whole situation made me uneasy. Who could she be? What was she trying to tell me?
One evening, while sitting with my wife in the living room, I mentioned it again. “There’s that little girl I told you about, at the window,” I said. Sandy closed her book, came closer, and asked, “You mean the one who always waves at you?”
I nodded, feeling a pang in my heart. “Yes, but there’s something in her eyes… as if she’s asking for help, as if she urgently needs to talk.”
The next day, I decided to knock on the neighbors’ door to learn more.
An elderly woman opened after a moment, looking visibly exhausted.

“Hello, I live right across, and I’ve noticed your little girl. She’s often at the window, waving at me. I just wanted to make sure everything is okay.”
She seemed hesitant, almost nervous. Then she replied:
“She’s my granddaughter. Her parents recently passed away, so she lives with me now. She doesn’t know anyone here yet; she’s very isolated. I’ll tell her to stop if it bothers you.”
“No, not at all. She doesn’t bother me. I’m sorry for your loss,” I replied sincerely.
Since then, I wave back at her every day. It’s become our little ritual. I hope she will feel better with time.
