My mother-in-law ordered a DNA test because our son didn’t look like his father: When the results came back, everyone was shocked

Andrei and I have been married for almost four years. Our marriage was not a fulfilling one, but we loved each other and did everything to solve our problems.

However, from the very beginning there was one problem – his mother, Tamara Petrovna.

She did not hide the fact that she did not like me. Fortunately, we lived separately, and our meetings were limited to special occasions. I tried to ignore his sarcastic remarks, but after the birth of our son, the situation changed.

Tamara Petrovna came to our house almost every day. At first I thought that she just wanted to help, see her grandson or give advice, but I quickly realized that she had other intentions.

“Andrei, you need to do a DNA test,” she kept repeating.

“Mom, stop it,” he said to her. “This is my child, there is no need to confirm the obvious.”

“Obvious?” She snapped. “Look at him. He does not look like you at all. Blond hair, different eyes. Don’t you see that?”

I tried to live calmly. Andrei knew that the child was indeed his, but the mother became more and more insistent.

She kept talking to Andrei, even convincing the rest of the family that the child was not his. Gradually, they began to believe it.

One day Andrei came home with an unusual expression on his face. He was quiet and avoided looking at me. I knew something was wrong.

“I’m sorry, but my mother… doesn’t give up. What if she’s right? Could you do this test so we can get this over with?”

It hurt me a lot. I knew it was his child, but this request made me doubt whether his fiancée was into me.

“Okay,” I replied. “Let’s do this test, but then you’ll do what I tell you.”

Andrei looked at me in surprise, but agreed.

We did the test, and a few days later we got the result: “Probability of paternity – 99.99%. Andrei breathed a sigh of relief, and Tamara Petrovna was silent for the first time.

My mother-in-law ordered a DNA test, because our son did not resemble his father: When the results came, everyone was shocked.

“Mom, are you happy yet?” Andrei asked him.

She shrugged.

“Okay, I was wrong. But still…”

I didn’t listen to him anymore. I had already packed my bags.

“Where are you going?” Andrei asked me in shock.

“I’m leaving,” I replied. “I can’t live with someone who doesn’t trust me.”

“I’m sorry, I was stupid! I didn’t mean to hurt you! My mother is responsible…”

“You allowed him to destroy our marriage. Come to terms with this decision.”

I left. Since that day, I have never spoken to my ex-husband or his family. Andrei called me, wrote to me, and apologized. But it was too late. Once an engagement is broken, it cannot be mended.
