In a Turkish city, there lived a stray dog. Although he was dirty, tired, and neglected, he had kind, trusting eyes. Every day he spent searching for food and water, but he was always enthusiastic about people who paid him even a little attention.

But the most surprising thing was his daily behavior: every day he stopped in the same place, above the sewer cover, and stared down for a long time. Passers-by did not understand what he saw there – until one day everything became clear.

That morning, the dog smelled meat coming from a nearby butcher’s shop. He pressed his nose to the window and watched people buying meat for dinner. One of the customers, a young woman named Annie, noticed his hungry gaze and heard the dog’s stomach growling.

Touched by his fate, she returned to the shop and asked for some bones or leftovers. She gave them to the dog, who at first approached him with distrust, but eventually grabbed the food… and immediately ran with it in the opposite direction. Interestingly, he did not eat it.

The next day the situation repeated itself. Annie gave him the sausage again, and the dog ran away with it in his teeth again. On the third day, the woman decided to follow him. The dog ran straight to the sewer grate, threw a piece of meat there, and only later started eating on his own.

This unusual behavior lasted for several days. Annie finally couldn’t take it anymore and looked into the sewer herself. She heard a quiet meow. She immediately called the emergency services.

The firefighters arrived quickly and began opening the manhole. A crowd gathered around. After a few minutes, one of the rescuers pulled a small, soaked kitten out of the canal. But that wasn’t the end. Four more kittens were pulled out one after another – all alive!

It turned out that a heavy downpour had probably washed the little ones into the canal. They survived thanks to the care of the dog, who brought them food every day.

Annie was so moved that she took the kittens to her. She gave four of them to loving homes, and left one – whom she named Fadju – with her. The dog that saved their lives was named Benny and also moved in with her.

From that day on, they formed a happy family together – Annie, Benny and Fadju – safe and surrounded by love. Thanks to the dog’s return, five lives were saved, and loneliness turned into closeness.
