My husband called to tell me he was leaving for another woman – he certainly didn’t expect my reaction

I got home around 7:00 p.m. Usually my husband would be home by then, but this time the apartment was empty.

The kids were at his mother’s, so I wasn’t in a hurry. I just wanted to eat something, relax, and go to bed early.

My husband probably wouldn’t be back until around midnight, like he had been lately. Honestly, I didn’t care what he was doing anymore.

But then the phone rang. His name appeared on the screen. I answered it, and he immediately started talking:

“You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been coming home late lately. Actually, I have another woman. Please don’t make a scene.”

I raised an eyebrow, feeling neither anger nor surprise.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect that from you. You know I’m going to the hairdresser tomorrow, and you’re supposed to look after the kids. Why didn’t you tell me tomorrow?” I replied, suppressing my irritation.

My husband called to tell me he was leaving for another woman – he certainly didn’t expect my reaction

He was silent, clearly confused, not understanding why I didn’t explode.

“Listen, I just want to eat. Do you know where the mayonnaise is?”

“You don’t even ask who she is or why I left? You’re not interested? You don’t want me to come back? Do you no longer love me?”

I thought for a moment before answering:

“Honestly, I don’t care who she is or why you left. Those are your problems. Did you take the mayonnaise to give to your mistress?”

He couldn’t believe what he was hearing:

“What a woman you are! Your husband is leaving you and you’re asking about the mayonnaise?” he said, and I thought it was time to end this conversation.

I felt no pain or regret. The only thing that worried me was the children and the house. My husband could start his new life – for me his departure was not a loss for a long time.
