And so it happened – they adopted a dog named Lynn. Tomek was in seventh heaven.

One day, the boy was sitting calmly on the sidewalk when suddenly a huge dog ran in front of him. Startled, Tomek started screaming with all his might.

What scared him so much?

The answer was painful: Lynn was missing. His beloved dog had disappeared without a trace. Tomek was devastated. It turned out that his parents had accidentally left the kitchen window open. Lynn had probably jumped on the table and jumped out. Unfortunately, she couldn’t get back – the window was too high.

The family hoped that Lynn would find her way home on her own, so just in case, they left the back door open – day and night. However, five days passed and there was no sign of the dog. Tomek cried almost every day, and his parents were also devastated.

Behind their house stretched a huge forest – for over 80 kilometers!

Together with the neighbors, they searched for her for over a month. Unfortunately, without success. In the end, everyone had to accept that Lynn might not come back.

The parents, although with a heavy heart, told the boy:

• “Honey, we looked everywhere, but we couldn’t find Lynn. We are very sorry. If you want, we can go to the shelter or the store together and choose a new puppy for you.”

But Tomek did not want to hear about any new dog. He said that no one could replace Lynn, and that he did not want to suffer again if another dog also disappeared.

The boy cried for a long time – his heart was broken.
