Something strange happened in the quiet courtyard, where peace and sleepy laziness usually reigned.

The chicken, always keeping to itself and minding its own business, suddenly walked toward the cat, who was lazily lounging on the sun-warmed porch.

Her steps were confident, almost defiant, and there was an unusual fire in her eyes. None of the local animals – neither the sparrows nor the neighbor’s dog – could have predicted what was about to happen.

The cat, accustomed to his status as the terror of the yard, only lazily opened one eye when the chicken stopped right in front of him.

She did not cackle or fuss as usual.

Instead, she stretched out her neck and, to everyone’s amazement, sharply pecked the cat right in the nose.

The blow was precise, bold, almost insulting.

The cat shuddered, his fur stood on end, and the yard froze in anticipation of the inevitable reprisal. But what happened next turned all ideas about the laws of this yard upside down….

Instead of attacking the chicken with his claws, the cat froze, looking at it with something akin to… respect?

Or was it fear?

Or maybe something else entirely that none of the onlookers could understand?

The chicken, without losing its dignity, turned and walked away as if nothing had happened.

But at that moment, a strange sound came from the shadows of the barn, and all heads turned in that direction.

What they saw made even the bravest of them press their ears back and hold their breath…
