But before it could disappear into the void, the air was cut by a loud sound that neither Daniel nor Elena expected to hear. A sharp, piercing neigh tore through the silence like lightning.
A white figure appeared from the side with unreal speed.
Storm.
The horse lunged forward, its hooves striking the stone with a crash. At the last moment, it reared up at the very edge and, risking falling along with the wheelchair, grabbed the straps with its teeth.
Metal scraped, fabric stretched to its limit. One more second — and everything could have snapped.
But it didn’t.
Gathering its last strength, Storm pulled back, dragging the wheelchair away from the edge of the abyss. Stones tumbled down, disappearing into the depths, while Elena, eyes closed, whispered a prayer.
When it was over, a deafening silence fell.

Daniel stood motionless, unable to believe what had happened. His hands trembled, his gaze shifted between his mother and the horse, which was breathing heavily but did not step back.
And suddenly, something inside him broke.
For the first time in many years, he lowered his eyes, as if seeing himself from the outside — and he was afraid. Not for the money, not for his reputation, but for the emptiness he had driven himself into.
Elena slowly opened her eyes and looked at her son without fear.
— The true inheritance, — she said quietly, — is not something that can be taken away.
The wind calmed. And with it, what had been destroying them from within disappeared, leaving a chance to start all over again.
