I pulled a tablet from my folder and played the security footage. On the large screen, everything appeared: employees laughing, pushing me around… and the moment Veronica kicked the bucket, dousing the “cleaner” with dirty water.
A stifled gasp went through the room. Some lowered their eyes, others turned pale.
— It’s not what it looks like… — Veronica tried to say, her voice trembling.
— It’s exactly what it looks like, — I interrupted calmly. — This is my company. And this is what it became without my control.
I stepped forward.

— Today, the culture of humiliation ends here.
And a new one begins.
I announced an immediate review of management, an internal investigation, and mandatory training for all departments. Veronica was asked to leave the room — that seat no longer belonged to her.
When the door closed behind her, the atmosphere changed. People no longer saw a distant director in me. They saw someone ready to stand up for everyone who works honestly.
And for the first time in a long while, no one was afraid to look me in the eyes.
