A seventy-year-old pensioner sat on an old wooden bench in the park, quietly warming himself in the sun. The day was calm and warm. People were walking around, children were riding bicycles, and somewhere in the distance a dog was barking. The old man looked at the green trees and enjoyed the rare peace.

A few minutes later, three young men approached the bench. Judging by their appearance, they were a little over twenty. They talked loudly, laughed, and barely took their eyes off their phones. One of them stopped right in front of the old man and said with a mocking smile:

— Hey, old man, move over. We want to sit here too.

The elderly man looked at them calmly and replied in an even voice:

— There are plenty of empty benches in the park. You can choose any of them.

The boys exchanged glances, and anger immediately appeared on their faces.

— Don’t tell us where to sit or what to do, — another one said sharply.

The argument started almost immediately. The boys became rude, made biting jokes, and tried to provoke the old man. They felt confident because there were three of them and they were sure that the person in front of them was a helpless old man.

But the old man sat calmly and did not react to their provocations.

This only made them even angrier.

One of the boys unscrewed the cap of a plastic bottle and suddenly poured all the water directly over the old man’s head. The water ran down his cap and jacket, while the second boy started laughing loudly and filming everything with his phone.

— Look how many views this will get, — he said, pointing the camera straight at the old man’s face.

The third boy decided to go even further. For the sake of likes and a cheap spectacle, he clenched his fist and stepped forward, preparing to punch the old man in the face.

They were sure that the person in front of them was weak and wouldn’t even be able to defend himself.

As soon as the fist flew forward, the old man suddenly jumped up from the bench and immediately made a firm block. The punch did not reach its target. The movement was fast and precise, as if his body already knew exactly what to do.

The boy was confused for just a second.

At that moment, the second one tried to approach from behind, but the old man quickly grabbed his arm, turned his body, and with one movement threw him to the ground. He fell onto the grass without even understanding what had happened.

The first rushed forward again, but received a short push in the chest and stumbled several steps back. The third, who had been holding the phone the whole time, froze in place, not understanding what was happening.

Within a few seconds, all three of them stood there confused and frightened.

The elderly man calmly adjusted his wet cap and looked at them with a heavy gaze.

— You picked the wrong person, — he said quietly. — I’m a former special forces soldier. Age changes, but skills remain.

The boys looked at each other and didn’t say another word. They quickly turned around and hurried out of the park.
