This morning, my boyfriend called me and said that his parents wanted to meet me, and asked me to be at their house by 5:00 PM. I left home, went to the beauty salon, and then bought cosmetics so that my appearance would be perfect for the meeting.
Around 2:00 PM, my boyfriend called again and said:
— You haven’t forgotten that in a few hours we’re supposed to meet my parents, right?
— No, — I replied, put down the phone, and continued perfecting my look.
When there was only one hour left until the meeting, I called a taxi and headed to their house.
On the way, I asked the driver to stop by a store so I could pick out a gift for his parents for our first meeting.
I entered the supermarket, chose a gift, and approached the checkout to pay, but noticed a huge line. Looking at the clock, I realized I could be late — it was 4:45 PM, and there were at most 15 minutes left until the meeting.
Two options came to mind: leave the gift and go without it, or wait in line and risk being late.
I chose the second option and started waiting.
When the line was almost at my turn, there was an elderly woman in front of me who didn’t have enough money: her purchase cost $150, and she only had $80. The woman asked to wait while she tried to find the missing amount.
I looked at the other lines and realized there was no more time — I was already running late. I went up to the woman and said:
— Excuse me, ma’am, may I pay for you? I need to go urgently.
The woman got angry, and we started arguing, drawing the attention of the security staff.
In the end, I paid for her purchase and went through the checkout with my gift, rushing to my boyfriend’s house — it was already 10 minutes past the scheduled time.
When I arrived, he met me at the door and led me into the living room.
— Meet my dad, — said my boyfriend. I introduced myself, handed over the gift, and sat down.
— My mom will join us soon, — he added.
Five minutes later, the doorbell rang. My boyfriend opened the door, and his mother came in with him.
— Meet my mom, dear, — he said.
I turned around and saw his mom — and I was completely shocked, unable to believe my eyes.
The continuation can be seen in the first comment.

— Maybe we already know each other, — she whispered with a slight smile.
The living room seemed frozen. My boyfriend took my hand under the table, as if warning me of a possible storm.
And I realized: what had happened in the store was not a coincidence at all, but the beginning that would completely change our meeting.

Yes, it was the same woman I had argued with in the store, even though I hadn’t recognized her at the time.
But now we both realized it and quickly forgot the small misunderstanding. Our evening continued in a warm and pleasant atmosphere, leaving only good memories.
