Materials Needed

• A roll of mosquito netting (available in hardware stores and supermarkets for around 2,000 to 3,000 forints).
• A simple screwdriver.

I personally chose a 150 x 250 cm roll, which was enough for four windows, meaning the cost per window was about 800 forints.

Step-by-Step Installation

Preparing the Mosquito Net

1. Measure the window and cut the mosquito net to the desired size.
2. Leave a few extra centimeters on each side (I added 3 cm, but you can add more).

Removing the Sealing Gasket

1. Using a screwdriver, gently lift the rubber sealing gasket and slowly remove it from the frame.
2. Be careful not to stretch it to avoid damaging it.

Securing the Mosquito Net

1. Place the mosquito net over the window and make sure it’s positioned correctly.
2. Put the sealing gasket back in place by pressing it into the groove while holding the mosquito net’s edge.
3. Ensure the mosquito net is evenly distributed over the entire surface.

Adjusting and Tightening

• In corners or difficult spots, use a screwdriver: the pointed tip helps push the gasket in, while the flat end smooths it out.
• As you replace the gasket, the mosquito net will naturally tighten. Make sure the tension is even, without wrinkles or slack.

Maintenance and Durability

• The sealing gasket should be replaced every two years. If you accidentally damage it, don’t worry—it’s easy to find in hardware stores, and a full replacement kit only costs a few thousand forints.

The Final Result

Visually, this mosquito net looks just as good as the framed models. It’s quick to install, budget-friendly, and requires no drilling.

For PVC windows, I believe this method is far more practical than spending tens of thousands of forints on a framed mosquito net with fixings. And if you want to install it on multiple windows, this trick will save you a lot of money.
