‘Saved by God’: Watch Stunning Video of Man Who Survived Kansas Storm and Was Stuck in His Car

The storms devastated the Midwest, killing at least 28 people and injuring hundreds more.

Over the weekend, devastating weather battered states including Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, and Virginia. In Kansas, a man captured incredible footage of a tornado tearing through the area.

His anxiety was palpable, but he survived.

On May 18, about 21 tornadoes struck Kansas, damaging homes along Interstate 70 near Grinnell. One man, Aden Basgall, was in his car when one of the twisters hit, and he said all he could do was “buckle up and hope for the best.”

Basgall captured video of the storm roaring just behind his small vehicle. The strong winds and rain sent debris flying into the fast-moving floodwaters below.

“Goodbye, Grinnell,” Basgall says in the video. When it becomes clear he’ll survive, he exclaims, “God just saved us!”

Meteorologists classified the storm as an EF2 with gusts of up to 135 mph that damaged Basgall’s car but left no injuries. Overall, AccuWeather estimates the storms caused up to $11 million in damage in the affected states.
