The wedding in the village gathered everyone: everyone came to share the joy of the newlyweds. The guests laughed, sang, raised toasts. Music sounded everywhere.
And no one noticed how from the side of the forest to the cheerful crowd slowly approached a stranger in a long green dress. She walked unhurriedly. Her face was calm, but under the hem of her dress she was hiding something.
None of the people paid much attention to the stranger’s appearance. No one – except Byrak.
The old but faithful dog, who belonged to a friend of the groom’s, lay in the shadows under the table. He had been following his master all morning, but now he froze, staring intently at the stranger. His ears perked, his tail twitched, and the fur along his spine rose.
Bayrak smelled something wrong.
The woman was getting closer. She was already a few meters away from the newlyweds. Suddenly the dog took off.
He ran straight towards the stranger. The guests turned around. Everyone was terrified as Bairak started barking at the woman, his teeth clawed into the fabric of her clothes, and he knocked her to the ground.
By the time people realized why the dog was behaving like that and what the woman was hiding under her dress, it was very late….

The next instant, an explosion sounded.
A deafening rumble echoed through the neighborhood. People scattered, some screamed, some fell to the ground.
The explosion went off farther away from the people, at the edge of the meadow, where Bayrak had pushed the stranger.
During a wedding, a dog pounced on one of the guests who was hiding something under her dress
The woman, as it later turned out, was a terrorist. The explosive device hidden under her dress was ready to be activated. Had she reached the crowd in time, casualties could have been avoided. But she didn’t.

At the cost of his life, Bayrak saved dozens. He died with the woman.
The next day he was buried by an old oak tree on the edge of the village. Everyone came – newlyweds, guests, neighbors. They put a plaque on the grave with the inscription:
