Saturday, August 2, 11:00 PM. On the legendary Corniche Kennedy, guests of the Petit Pavillon are enjoying a summer evening when suddenly a hellish roar shatters the night’s peace. 

A powerful Audi  speeding past transforms the relaxed atmosphere into a scene of widespread panic in a matter of seconds.

“  The whole terrace shook and people jumped up screaming when they heard the car coming straight at them  ,” recalls a shocked customer who was there that evening.

A restaurant located just below the Corniche promenade in Marseille’s 7th arrondissement became the unwitting scene of a terrifying spectacle. The engine vibrations reached their limits, and the deafening noise of the vehicle, hurtling at  a frantic pace,  literally froze those witnessing it.

The Audi, completely out of control, suddenly veers out of its lane. In its chaotic trajectory, the car successively smashes through a pole, a barrier, and a trash can before violently slamming into a security post. But the worst is yet to come: an overtaking scooter from the opposite direction is trapped by this mechanical tidal wave.

This head-on collision at 133 Promenade Kennedy Street will turn a peaceful evening into a nightmare for two innocent victims.

Two victims seriously injured in collision

A nightmare becomes reality. A collision between a speeding Audi and a scooter  leaves two passengers with life- threatening injuries  . A man in his 30s and his 22-year-old passenger now lie on the asphalt, innocent victims of a fatal accident they didn’t want to see.

Immediately alerted, firefighters rushed to the Endoume district to provide aid to the injured. Medical assessment revealed the extent of the injuries: the pilot suffered  multiple open fractures  to his lower limbs, and his young passenger suffered a suspected femoral neck fracture. These injuries required immediate hospitalization and signaled months of rehabilitation.

Fortunately, their lives are not in danger, but the physical consequences of the resulting accident are likely to be severe for the two victims, who were simply traveling along the edge at night. Emergency services are working methodically to stabilize the injured before transporting them to the hospital, and the crash scene around them reveals the extent of the impact.

But while medical crews fight to save what remains, the person responsible for this massacre adopts behavior that will shock all witnesses present.

A careless driver and his escape after a collision

This behavior is incomprehensible. While the two victims still lay on the asphalt near 133 Kennedy Promenade, the perpetrator of the massacre displayed  an icy indifference  that stunned all witnesses. But it was his next move that revealed the true nature of the escape. Several witnesses watched in astonishment as the driver grabbed the bag and  hastily threw it into the sea  . This deliberate action bespoke a deep sense of guilt and suggested a desire to conceal compromising evidence.

This cold and calculated sequence contrasts sharply with the panic of the emergency services surrounding the injured. While firefighters race against time, the man calmly walks down the Promenade toward the Peron restaurant, trying to disappear into the Marseille night.

His escape, however, was short-lived. Quickly mobilized law enforcement tracked him down to a side street where he had attempted to hide. Immediately arrested, the man had to answer for his actions in court. A court that soon revealed the extent of his criminal past.

A recidivist with fifteen criminal records

This justice system has indeed uncovered a serious past. The 27-year-old man arrested on this neighboring street is no stranger to the Marseille police; quite the opposite. His criminal record reveals a decades-long  criminal history with disturbing regularity.

Fifteen crimes have already been added to his criminal record: car theft, drug trafficking, weapons possession, various thefts, insults, and acts of violence. A series of crimes that authorities say paint a picture of recidivism by a “very ill-known individual.” This litany of crimes testifies to the escalation of crime, which is reaching its peak during this mad dash along the Kennedy Corniche.

The man will now face a series of new charges: causing serious bodily harm to both victims, dangerous driving, damaging municipal infrastructure, and leaving the scene of an accident. These charges add to his already extensive criminal record. Advertisement:
