US Vice President J.D. Vance has repeatedly questioned the credibility of Pentagon briefings regarding a US/Israeli war against Iran and has also shared concerns with President Donald Trump about the state of US weapons stockpiles. This assertion was made by several US officials who wished to remain anonymous in conversation with The Atlantic.
Officials say Vance regularly questioned the veracity of the Pentagon’s wartime information in closed meetings.
Vance also reportedly expressed concern to Trump about the availability of certain types of munitions, particularly noting the significant reduction in missile stockpiles.
A White House official claims the vice president asked officials questions about strategic planning in the context of the evolving conflict.
At the same time, sources emphasized that Vance expressed these assessments as his own opinion and did not directly accuse US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kane of providing “misleading information.”
