During the party where the parents were supposed to find out the baby’s gender, soft music played in the yard, guests laughed, held glasses in their hands, and waited for the moment when the couple would announce who they were expecting. The daughter-in-law, wearing a delicate lilac dress, stood at the edge of the pool, holding her belly — the pregnancy was already far along, and every step required caution.

The mother-in-law approached from behind. On her face was a wide, forced smile, and in her eyes something strange and unpleasant. She whispered something. The daughter-in-law turned around trustingly to respond… but in the next moment the mother-in-law shoved her forward with both hands.

The pregnant woman didn’t even have time to scream — she fell straight into the water.

At first, all the guests burst out laughing. Someone clapped, someone joked that it would be “the video of the year.” The mother-in-law laughed the loudest, clapping her hands as if it was all part of the entertainment.

But the laughter stopped instantly when, after a few seconds, the pregnant woman still didn’t come up.

“Uh… where is she?” one friend asked.

“She… she’s not coming up…” someone whispered, trembling.

Only the mother-in-law said sharply:

“Oh come on, she can swim… She’s just pretending.”

But the husband spun toward her:

“She can’t swim! And you knew that!”

The mother-in-law’s face turned pale. The smile vanished. She stepped back:

“I… I… I forgot…”

But it was too late. Several men had already jumped into the water. Seconds later one of them resurfaced, holding the unconscious pregnant woman in his arms. People screamed, others burst into tears. The husband shook his wife’s shoulders in panic, repeating her name.

After several agonizing seconds, she coughed, inhaled, and opened her eyes. Everyone exhaled in relief… except the mother-in-law, whose hands and lips trembled.

The daughter-in-law slowly got up — soaked, pale, but completely clear-headed and determined. And then she did something that shocked all the guests.

The daughter-in-law looked straight at her mother-in-law and said loudly, so everyone could hear:

“You knew very well that I can’t swim.”

“No… I… I forgot…” the mother-in-law stammered, stepping back.

“You didn’t forget. From the first day you said you hated me. You said this child ‘surely isn’t your son’s.’ You tried to get rid of both of us.”

“That’s a lie!” the mother-in-law almost shouted. “You’re making this up!”

The pregnant woman raised her hand, holding her phone.

“Fine. Then let’s call the police. They can check the camera footage around the pool. It clearly shows whether you pushed me accidentally or on purpose. And it clearly records what you said. And one more thing… you will never see your grandchild again.”

The mother-in-law turned white and started crying.

The police were called. The cameras confirmed the intentional push. The previous threats the mother-in-law had made were also recorded.

The mother-in-law received a real prison sentence for assault and endangering the life of a pregnant woman.
