The cat wouldn’t let the child sleep at night. When we discovered the reason for the animal’s strange behavior, we were simply horrified
The cat wouldn’t let the child sleep. Every night it seemed to go crazy — meowing, scratching the crib, jumping onto the windowsill until the whole house woke up. We were angry, tried locking the door, scolded it, but it was all useless.
At first, we thought — it was jealous of the baby. Then — that it had gone mad. The vet said it was perfectly fine. And we — were on edge.
One night I woke up because the cat rushed to the baby’s crib again. I thought it wanted to harm, but it stood by the crib, purring loudly. I ran to the crib — and my heart stopped.

The baby lay motionless, face pale, breathing barely audible. The cat ran around as if calling for help, scratched the blanket, and meowed plaintively. My husband and I grabbed the child in panic and called an ambulance.
At the hospital, doctors said it all happened just in time — the baby had an acute episode, breathing almost stopped. A few more minutes, and the consequences could have been terrible.

When I returned home, the cat sat by the nursery door, watching the empty crib attentively. That’s when I realized for the first time — it had sensed everything before us. Instinct, sixth sense, or something more — I don’t know.
Since then, it only sleeps next to the child. If the baby cries or feels unwell, the cat is the first to raise the alarm. We thought it was disturbing sleep, but it turned out — it was protecting.

Now, every evening, passing by, I whisper to it:
— Thank you, our little guardian.
