Why I Chose to Leave $4.3 Million to Triplets I’ve Never Met

What began as an ordinary evening for 28-year-old Cameron Hulet and his partner, 20-year-old Courtney, ended under mysterious circumstances in their Dundee, Michigan home.

The couple had just sat down for dinner when a neighbor noticed hours later that they hadn’t moved.

Concerned, the neighbor contacted authorities, who arrived to find the couple unresponsive at their kitchen table.

Investigators reported no signs of forced entry, struggle, or visible trauma. The food on the table appeared untouched, though officers noted the presence of a quantity of marijuana being divided nearby. While that discovery complicated the scene, it provided no immediate explanation for what had happened.

Autopsy and toxicology results are still pending, leaving officials with more questions than answers. Dundee Police Chief Todd Opperman described the case as “puzzling,” explaining that investigators are considering a range of possibilities, from accidental causes to health-related issues, while emphasizing that no evidence of foul play has been found so far.

The couple had only recently moved to the area and were navigating personal challenges, including the removal of their children by child services. Hulet also had a record of prior arrests. As the investigation continues, the case serves as a reminder of how quickly lives can change, leaving family and community members searching for clarity in the wake of sudden loss.
