Our neighbor decided to build a house right on the property line, which is illegal: so we decided to take our revenge in an original way

This bold neighbor started building a house right in front of ours and its windows face our property. At first, we tried to talk calmly, but he just sent us away.

So, we decided to take matters into our own hands and respond in our way. I’ll explain what we did in the link in the comments below

It’s well known that you can’t build on the property line – a distance of at least one meter must be kept, especially for residential buildings.

But, as often happens, some neighbors act as if these rules don’t apply to them.

Our neighbor decided to extend his property and built a two-story structure directly on the property line! At first, we didn’t mind too much – maybe he had just added a shed or a garage.

But when the extension included an attic and later a window facing directly onto our property, we had enough.

Imagine: you step into your garden in the morning, and from the neighbor’s window, a keen eye is watching you. Your privacy is shattered in an instant.

Once we understood what was happening, we first tried to solve the problem peacefully – we went to him and explained politely that we didn’t like the window overlooking our yard.

But the neighbor was firm – he said he wouldn’t change anything because “the project was already approved,” “everything had been well thought out,” and “what business was it of ours?”

So, we went to the city planning office, hoping for support. There, they confirmed that the neighbor was indeed breaking the law. However, we soon realized that getting justice wasn’t going to be easy.

We were told outright that even if we won in court, nothing would really change. The court might order the extension to be demolished, but in practice, no one would enforce that decision.

At best, he would receive a fine, but apparently, he wasn’t worried about that.

Realizing that administrative measures would be powerless, we decided to act differently. There was already a small shed at the property line, so we thought: what if we just made some changes?

We increased its height, slightly altered the roof… in such a way that it completely blocked the view from the neighbor’s window?

Before starting, we honestly warned the neighbor: since he hadn’t considered our interests, we would now act in our own.

We told him we wanted to raise the roof of the shed – of course, in accordance with the law and respecting all necessary distances.

After a few days of work, our shed was transformed: now, the roof of the shed completely blocked the neighbor’s “panoramic window.” No more prying eyes into our yard.

We are happy with the result, and now, it’s the neighbor’s turn to complain, but this time – without any valid reason.
