— This is just resin!
— Resin? — I asked, surprised.
— Yes! Sometimes, the sea washes up hardened resin pieces, especially if there used to be old ships or factories nearby.
It may look like a stone, but it’s much lighter and sometimes even has a distinct smell.
I brought the object closer to my nose and indeed noticed a faint resinous scent. What a surprise!
We kept examining it, wondering how long it had been in the water. Maybe decades?

As I rolled the sphere between my hands, my friend added thoughtfully:
— Imagine if someone mistook it for a gemstone!
We both laughed and decided to keep it as a unique souvenir. Now I’ll be paying more attention to where I step because the beach is full of surprises!
